Symptoms and effects of unchanged oil
Engine oils are a fundamental part of any engine, keeping it running well and protecting vital components from wear. If they were to run out or degrade, then you would have no choice but rely on an expensive parts replacement for your vehicle’s various systems, which could cost even more in the long-term as opposed to taking preventative measures now.
Synthetic oil is a much better option for your car’s engine because it does more than just keep the moving parts clean – its cushioning properties allow metal to glide smoothly against one another and prevent them from wearing down too quickly. Without this protection, you could end up with debris flying around inside your engine. Not only will synthetic oils help extend how long a car can last before needing, but they’re also going to be significantly lower in maintenance costs because of high durability compared with conventional mineral-based grades.
Without oils there can be excessive friction which will damage surfaces and wear them down quickly leading to breakage or even embedding microscopic metal debris into other components causing more problems.
Oil molecules inside the oil break down and some burn, reducing its viscosity. Synthetic oils with high-quality additive packages last significantly longer than conventional ones but still require scheduled changes every few thousand miles to keep them running smoothly. We should change the engine oil of the BMW X3 at least once every year or every 10,000 miles.
One of the most important things to remember about your car is that these cars are sitting in the garage during winter. And because they are not the youngest anymore, we recommend changing the engine oil every spring.

This service will cost you the mechanic labour fee (for 15min to max. 40min at a labour fee rate of 60-90EUR/hr).
Be prepared to be questioned by mechanics as they will want to know if your car repair products are really suitable for the engine. Some dealerships use phrases such as “we only can use our official products” in order to maintain the warranty, but you should confidently say yes! Otherwise MyCar.Repair would never sell them too me because I’m confident that their quality meets or exceeds what is required from an auto shop.
Open the engine cover and oil cap, pour one bottle of LIQUI MOLY Oil Sludge Flush into it. Close back up tightly with a twist to release any excess air before starting car – just make sure you don’t drive. Turn off after 10-15 minutes and proceed to the next step.
The oil filter housing sits in the front on the right-hand side. Remove it and take out the old filter.
Before you can replace the old filter, pull it off of its cap and clean both pieces with some parts cleaner. Remove any o-rings from each part so they don’t get stuck when reattaching them later on.
Dress the new o-rings with some fresh oil and install them onto the oil filter cap. Slide the new filter onto the cap and then reinstall it into the engine.
Thread the cap into the housing by hand to prevent any cross-threading. Then, use the socket to torque the cap to 24Nm.
Open the oil cap to ensure that there is no vacuum during draining. Place jack stands under your vehicle and secure with a lift or jacking mechanism.
Place a drain pan under the drain plug. Position it farther toward the driver’s side as the oil will shoot out in that direction. Use a socket to remove the plug.
Clean off the drain plug and then use a copper crush washer to ensure that it fits into your car’s threads correctly. Thread it in by hand first, before tightening with a socket which should be torque at 30Nm.
Shake the ceramic coating additive LIQUI MOLY Cera tec.
Open the engine cover and remove the oil filler cap. Then pour the additive into the engine oil tank along with your bottle of LIQUI MOLY Motor Oil Saver.
Head into the engine bay and remove the oil filler cap. Then, pour in 5 litres of oil. It takes some time for the oil to move into the system before you can check the oil level. Wait 5 minutes and check the oil level on the dipstick. In the case you did Step 4 and added the ceramic coating an additive, please keep in mind that the 600ml can be counted and deducted from the 5L engine oil volume.
Depending on the result of the dipstick, add in small increments of around 200ml until the engine oil is at the MAX level of the dipstick. Avoid overfilling the engine oil as this causes smoke and other negative side effects. Use a workshop paper towel to clean any oil you may have spilt.
Select “Assist Plus” from the menu that appears on the center instrument cluster screen. Confirm that you’ve completed a full service and then hit “OK” twice. The service interval is now reset.
