Audi’s Q8 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV from Audi launched in 2018. It’s one of Audi’s leading SUVs produced at their Bratislava plant.

Engine, transmission, and performance

The Audi Q8 Petrol Range is available with two engines, a 3.0 TFSI and a 4.0 TFSI. Both are extremely powerful and efficient engines. The 3.0 TFSI is able to produce 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque, which is more than enough for the SUV’s performance. The faster Q8 hits 0–100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, while the other can do the same in 5.7 seconds. The 4.0 TFSI engine has a power output of 400 hp and 580 Nm of torque, making it one of the more powerful SUVs on the market today.

Diesel Model: Powered by a 3.0-liter V6 TDI, the Audi Q8 has a maximum output of 237bhp, while its peak torque of 457Nm can be summoned from just 1,750rpm. The diesel engine is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system for improved traction and stability.

Is the Audi Q8 a good car?

It is among the most impressive SUVs available. The super aggressive look makes it appear more ready to devour unbelievers hatch over than the Mercedes and BMW X6, but it remains quite simple to live with every day. The Audi Q8 shares many technical bits with the larger Audi Q7, but you will not see this immediately from your first look. Featuring an immense rounded shape, a sharp double-pane headlight, an angled 21-inch alloy wheel, and an octagonal grille the vehicle looks more like an ocean warship. The whole experience feels colossal.

The new Audi q8 is both dynamic and elegant. Its design features hallmark Audi proportions with an unmistakable athletic silhouette. The expressive exterior is further emphasized by its wide-set, single frame grille and precise lines. This combination creates a clearly defined character with a unique presence on the road that is never intrusive or ostentatious – even when driven at high speeds.

2020 Audi Q8 Review

Most luxury automobile manufacturers today offer crossover SUVs similar to coupe models. It can usually be used to take a well-resourced car with a new roofline to create an attractive look. Audi’s Q8 debut was released earlier this month. The 2020 Q8 has the same two-row design as the seven-passenger Q7. Impressively, styling changes are not taking too much away from rear headroom or cargo space. The vast overhead room allows for comfortable seating in each chair. The Q8 offers good cargo space due to its square opening liftgates.

Overview

Audi has revealed the 2022 Audi Q8, which offers a more stylish alternative to the three-row Q7. Audi shares its own engine and a 3.6-liter V6 powertrain but the shorter length and sporty rear end reduce the backrest headroom and reduce cargo room for passengers. Although the compromise erodes the Audi Q8 practicality quotient, this model still features a stylish and sophisticated interior. Digitally-designed dash pieces are slick and offer requisite tech features while the lower touchscreen is susceptible to distracting the driver.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Audi Q8 offers a modern and robust interior. These materials have premium quality and each panel is carefully arranged. It has standard heated front seats with a panoramic roof and a panoramic sunroof but lacks high-end features. Only the highest-quality model has a padded interior seat, upgraded leather seats with quiet dual-panning glass. All of these features and the driver can choose the lighting in the interior. Not only is this Q8 a stunning car but it also offers plenty of room for passengers.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

EPA figures show the Audi Q8 is mediocre but below the range of the all-wheel-drive rivals. The Audi Q8 will be rated 17mpg in the city and 21 highways and will look the same as an 8-cylinder Q5. The Audi Q8 highway fuel efficiency route also greatly exceeded our expectations. It grew by 30 mpg over 100 miles and was compared to a Q7 that saw 24 mpg during a similar test. BMW’s similarly equipped X6s returned 30mpg.

Audi Q8 Design: Sleek and Striking

The Audi Q8 is styled to look fast even when it’s parked, with swooping lines and angular corners on its exterior. It comes in three trims: standard, premium, and luxury. All have four doors and seat five people, though only the standard versions offer third-row seating. Each trim has unique interior features, but all have similar amenities like Bluetooth connectivity, a backup camera, and power windows.

Infotainment and connectivity

Every Audi Q8 features high-end infotainment technology. Instead of the intuitive rotary controller used in many Audis, the display responds by tactile feedback on touch inputs. I quickly adjusted to the logical menu and the big icons; distraction attention was unheard of. Fortunately, receptive voice commands and useful control buttons provide alternate operations. Standard features include WiFi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Wireless Charge, leather upholstery, and Audio Systems are also optional.

Pricing and Which One to Buy?

Our premium trim is chosen and comes in varying options. Some distinctive standard features have been added including a fully digital gauge cluster and integrated navigation. Even as 21inch wheels are standard now, Black Optics packages are expected to have a sportier look. We will be adding convenience packages (blind-spot monitors, reverse cross-traffic alerts, wireless chargers, and many more) and tow packages. It allows for a maximum tow capacity of 7700 g.

What’s New for 2022?

In the coming months, the Q8 line will feature new standard and upgraded packages. It now comes standard with 21-inch Wheels and Powerfolding Exterior Mirrors. The Premium Plus features adaptive driving assist and brake assist. Those choosing the Executive package can also get leather seats in their front seats with air conditioning. In addition, the executive package has adaptive air suspension on the armrests and all-wheel steering is optional.

Audi Q8 models

The Audi Q8 is an SUV with an automatic transmission and dual-zone climate control with all-wheel drive. The vehicle is offered in three trim levels. Even the basic Premium model is nicely fitted. The Premium Plus has more luxurious equipment while the Prestige provides several exotic technologies. The Q 8 has only the same engine: a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that produces 335 horsepower. The Q8 features eight-speed automated braking systems.

Related car reviews

In the world of luxury SUVs, the Audi Q8 is a newcomer. It’s been designed as an answer to the Range Rover Sport and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The Q8 is built on the same platform as its smaller sibling, the Q7, and shares some of its styling cues with it too.

It’s a relatively recent model but already has a host of rivals from all the usual suspects. From the BMW X6 to the Porsche Cayenne, there are plenty of options out there for people who want an SUV that’s a bit sportier than most.

Range Rover Sport

The Audi q8 vs Range Rover sport is an interesting comparison because Audi and Land Rover have a lot in common when it comes to their approach to cars. Both manufacturers offer luxurious off-roaders aimed at affluent families and they’re both pretty expensive. The Q8 may be new on the market but it’s priced in much the same ballpark as its Range Rover rival. So how do they compare? Let’s take a look at how they measure up here.

The Audi Q8 and Range Rover sport are both SUVs that are popular choices for buyers in the United States. Both offer distinctive styling, luxurious cabins, and powerful engines for a satisfying driving experience. And although the two models have a lot in common, there are some important differences you should know about before you buy.

Here’s what you need to know about the Q8 vs Range Rover Sport comparison:

Performance and Design: The Q8 has more power than the Sport, but the two models are close competitors in other areas.

The Q8 features a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that produces 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which is an improvement over the previous model’s 3.6-liter V6 engine. The SUV gets an EPA estimated 17/24 mpg city/highway with all-wheel drive (AWD) and 16/23 mpg with front-wheel drive (FWD).

The Range Rover Sport features a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is down from the previous model’s 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine that produced 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.

Birth Of The Audi Q8

Audi is a German automotive brand that has been making cars since 1909. It’s now a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, but it retains its own independent identity. The Audi Q8 is the company’s first full-size sport utility vehicle, and it’s the replacement for the Q7. The SUV market is one of the most competitive and lucrative on the planet, so Audi had to work hard to make sure its new model was as appealing as possible.

Audi has a long history of producing great-looking SUVs and coupes. Its goal with the Q8 was to have a car that could carry three rows of seats without sacrificing any of its supercar styling. The new model doesn’t just have one look — it comes in three different versions: standard, sport and advanced sport.

The Audi Q8 comes with two turbocharged V6 engines, both of which are powerful and efficient. There’s also an eight-speed automatic transmission that helps give this SUV fine handling capabilities, even when it’s fully loaded. If you’re looking for something that combines power with efficiency and good looks, you’ll want to take a closer look at the Audi Q8.

Explore Audi range

There is a lot of confusion between the Audi Q8 and the Audi Q7. They are very similar in appearance but have major differences. The Q8 is smaller and sleeker than the Q7, but it also costs more and has less cargo space. It’s not a bad choice if you need something sporty while still maintaining the ability to carry up to five passengers comfortably.

Audi Q7

The Audi Q7 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV that was introduced by the German car maker Audi in 2006. The vehicle is manufactured in Germany at the Ingolstadt plant and is marketed in North America, China, Russia, Japan and Mexico. The vehicle was initially unveiled in New York City, followed by other worldwide unveiling events

The Q7 uses Audi’s trademark quattro four-wheel drive technology. The Q7 shares its platform with the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne and has been available in both front- and four-wheel drive configurations.

The vehicle offers a 3.6 litre FSI V6 engine rated at 260 kW (354 PS; 349 bhp); 280 kW (380 PS; 373 bhp) for the S line model; or 2.8 litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine rated at 160 kW (218 PS; 215 bhp).

Audi offers an S line model of the Q7 featuring unique exterior styling cues, larger wheels, a body kit and sportier interior trim. An ‘extreme’ S line package with additional cosmetic enhancements is also available for certain markets such as the United States.

Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV from Audi, entering production in late 2008 for the 2009 model year. It is based on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform. The Q5 is sold in North America, China, Russia, and South Africa as of 2010. In North America, it competes with the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, Lincoln MKX, and Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.

In Europe and other markets, it will compete with the BMW X3, Range Rover Evoque and soon to be launched Porsche Macan.

The standard wheelbase of the Q5 is 1,835 mm (72.6 in), while the long-wheelbase is 1,950 mm (76.6 in) making it longer than even the Q7. The short wheelbase version debuted in 2010 at the Montreal International Auto Show. All models include Quattro four-wheel drive as standard.[4]

The Q5 uses a 2.0 L Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine rated at 150 PS (148 hp/110 kW) and peak torque of 400 N·m (295 lb·ft).

What’s the Audi Q8 like to drive?

The Audi Q8 offers a sportier alternative to its predecessors, the Audi iQ7. The car feels more like a straight arrow-straight road than a curved country road. For fans with super-sharp handling, it’s best to go somewhere. Driving around a city is as exciting as flying onboard the most imposing sailing yacht down the Thames.

Driving An Audi Q8

Because the Audi Q8 is huge it makes it easy for a person to sit at a higher height and see traffic clearly. Yes, it has a curved roof that makes the rearview less visible than in the Q7, but the blind spots are fewer than on a GLE Coupe or BMW X6. Those large door mirrors make a distinctive whistle sound when traveling at motorway speeds causing quite the tire squealing sound from their large wheels. The Audi can easily be driven around the city with such a large vehicle. No one explains its vast length, but standard air suspension eliminates most dents and voids.

Audi Q8 Performance and economy

The Audi Q8 currently has 1 gasoline diesel engine available in different outputs and all four wheels are controlled using automatic transmissions. The 500tdi diesel produces 242 horsepower and can easily accelerate the mighty Audi Q8 to 0-62mph in 6.4secs in just 6.2seconds. The motorway starts getting noisy and slowly settles down for a relaxing drive. That is partly due to the mild-hybrid technology available throughout Audi’s Q8 model. It utilizes an electric motor to improve performance and energy efficiency by shutting out the engine when not needed.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The Audi q8 has a whole host of safety systems, including adaptive cruise control with stop and go for traffic jams. This can automatically slow the car down or speed it up to keep pace with the vehicle in front, depending on the speed setting you choose. It’s one of the first systems of its kind that is truly capable of bringing a car to a complete stop in slower-moving traffic using traffic jam assist.

Audi pre sense city also helps you to avoid accidents by alerting you to hazards and stopping you from slamming into the vehicle in front while you’re driving at low speeds.

The Audi q8 also has lane assist, which can warn you if your vehicle is drifting out of the lane and correct it for you so that you don’t have to keep correcting yourself manually.

The adaptive cruise control system allows for significantly smoother and safer driving than without it, as well as more comfortable rides for passengers.

How practical is it?

The Audi Q8 looks more luxurious than the Q7 but it still offers impressive cabin. Thankfully, the seat is not available, and although the taller Q7 is a two-story detached apartment, the broader Q8 is a vast luxury villa.

Boot space

The Audi is rated at 665 cubic meters of boot space with the seats on the back, combining with a 580L X6 with a 650L GS Coupe. The suitcase can hold two golf balls and loads of bulky suitcases. Vorsprung models have much more flexibility with their sliding rear seats that offer little rear legroom and extra boot room. A handy 3-way splitting option is provided to allow you to transport 2 passengers and a number of heavy items. Whether carrying more bags or not, the seat is positioned on top for easy storage and opens a loading area of 1,755 litres. This is more luggage than you get in the Mercedes and significantly more than the BMW can manage itself.

Passenger space

Audi Q8s are incredibly large vehicles and there’s ample parking inside. The rear seats are fully padded for the best comfort while the electric lumbar adjustment comes as standard. The driver seat features a memory feature with six different settings to make it difficult for people to lose their preferred seats. Super sports seats – standard on Vorsprung vehicles and optional in S-Line – come with soft leather and thicker supports that help you keep you secure in tightly placed areas. But they are nothing like a good investment at all.

Storage space

All the doors of the Audi Q8 are huge enough to fit 1.5 liters of fuel and there is plenty of room inside the glove box. You have a dedicated shelf on the central console for the storage of the smartphone which has also included a wireless charging feature, but it lacks any additional storage space for other stuff. The cup holders are not very wide and yet they are big enough to hold the cup and deep enough for the prevention of spills. The big folded cover makes it a little hard to remove a cup from its interior.
